We won a UK Social Media Communications Award!

We were over the moon recently to win a UK Social Media Communications Award, jointly with our brilliant client Direct Line for Business. The awards, now in their 8th year, celebrate the very best in UK social media communications and reward the individuals, companies and organisations who use online platforms to communicate in fresh and innovative ways. We were thrilled to be able to attend the ceremony alongside our client, enjoying the setting, company, and of course the free champagne.

The awards are open to all corporate, creative, design, digital, marketing, advertising, media and public relations organisations that are based in the UK, and the judging panel featured many leading professionals from some of the UK’s biggest brands.

We were nominated for two categories, Best Use of Social Media – Finance, and Best Audience Engagement Campaign. After a tense 20 minutes listening to the award nominees being read out and hearing various winners announced, we were absolutely delighted to scoop the Best Use of Social Media – Finance award!

Our campaign involved the creation of a funny viral video that showed a tradesman falling into a metre-deep puddle after messing around on site with friends. The video aimed to remind tradespeople, a traditionally tricky to reach audience, to think about safety and insurance while on site. We created the campaign in partnership with tradesman content site On The Tools, generated a staggering 33 million organic views on Facebook as well as over 570k shares, over 90k comments as well as thousands of clicks through to our client’s website.

The campaign generated incredible results on social media but also drove coverage in key titles such as the Mail Online and Express Online, amongst others.

We were happy to see the video played at the ceremony too. Seeing the crowds at the event laughing at it was as much a highlight as winning the award itself.

We’re excited about creating more viral video content over the next year. While 33 million organic views won’t be easy to beat, we’re always up for a challenge!
