Citigate Dewe Rogerson announces global hedge fund practice
Citigate Dewe Rogerson, the leading international financial and corporate communications consultancy, has announced the creation of a global hedge fund practice centred on London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.
The practice will be led by Senior Director Christen Thomson, a former Deputy CEO of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), the global representative of the alternative investment industry with more than 1700 corporate members in over 50 countries who collectively manage more than $1.5 trillion in assets. Christen was responsible for co-ordinating strategic communications for the industry and worked closely with both many of the world’s biggest hedge funds and many of the world’s biggest investors in hedge funds, as well as with the leading journalists covering the industry globally.
Patrick Donovan, Managing Director of Citigate Dewe Rogerson commented, “The hedge fund industry is becoming ever more globalised and there are powerful trends in terms of institutionalisation, regulation, capital-raising and trading that mean that it makes sense for hedge fund firms to think globally in terms of their communications. With our international network of offices we can offer a seamless, institutional product to hedge fund firms around the world.”
Christen Thomson, Senior Director and head of hedge funds at Citigate Dewe Rogerson said, “The industry faces a challenging external environment and it is increasingly clear that those firms that will be successful will be those that are concerned about their reputation, that prioritise how they are perceived by investors and the market, and that are able to build their own brands.”
Vivian Chen, Managing Director of Citigate Dewe Rogerson in New York, added, “The United States is home not only to a majority of the world’s hedge funds but to its investors in hedge funds too, so it is a critical market, and one that we are very familiar with.”
Charlotte Bilney, co-CEO of Citigate Dewe Rogerson in Asia, added, “Asia is an increasingly important market in terms of capital raising for hedge funds internationally and one that requires very specific, expert local knowledge to succeed in.”
Patrick Donovan concluded, “The ability to open doors internationally is central to our offering. If you’re an American manager, we can build your profile in Europe and in Asia. If you’re European, we can help build your brand in America and Asia. And if you’re based in Asia, we can tell your story in America and Europe for you.”
